This August, seven people connected to the Pink Ribbon Foundation will take on the Camino Walk for Life, a 125km fundraising and wellness challenge along part of the iconic Camino de Santiago route in northern Spain.
The Pink Ribbon Foundation's own Lisa Allen will be taking part in the challenge alongside Carolyn, Jay (Justine), George, Jules (Julie), Nick and Denise. Together, the team will spend six days walking from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, raising funds and awareness whilst undertaking a challenge that carries personal significance for every member of the group.
Each participant has their own connection to breast cancer. Some have experienced a diagnosis themselves, whilst others have supported loved ones through treatment and recovery. Together, they will walk into Santiago in early September, united by a shared commitment to supporting those affected by breast cancer.
Preparing for a challenge of this scale requires months of training, particularly for those whose bodies have already been through cancer treatment. Building strength, stamina, confidence and resilience takes time, patience and the right support.
To help the team prepare, the Pink Ribbon Foundation is delighted to be working with Rebound Fitness.
As part of the partnership, members of the team have been provided with either a Fit Bounce Pro II or Just Bounce rebounder to use at home in the lead-up to the challenge. Rebounding, often described as exercise on a mini trampoline, is a low-impact and joint-friendly form of exercise that helps improve cardiovascular fitness, balance and muscle strength whilst placing significantly less stress on the body than many traditional forms of exercise.
For a challenge that involves walking for six consecutive days, developing endurance and lower-body strength is an important part of preparation, making rebounding an ideal complementary activity.
The Pink Ribbon Foundation would like to thank Rebound Fitness for their generous support of the team and the wider work of the charity.
To celebrate the partnership, Rebound Fitness has kindly offered supporters:
❤️ 10% off purchases using the code PINKRIBBON
❤️ An additional 10% donation to the Pink Ribbon Foundation on qualifying purchases
Supporters can find out more and purchase their very own Rebounder HERE.
Over the coming weeks, the Foundation will be sharing updates from the team's training journey, introducing the walkers and highlighting the personal stories behind the challenge.
After all, the Camino doesn't begin in Sarria.
It begins with the decision to take the first step.
If you would like to support Lisa and the team as they prepare for this incredible journey, donations can be made via the QR code associated with the challenge or HERE.
